Principal

 

Joe McCall has a strong background in both design and project management with 23 AIA award winning buildings to his credit.  He leads the design effort and is actively involved in all aspects of the projects. He has been a principal of the firm since 1989 upon returning from having his own firm, McCall-Harris Architects for 5 years.  His 40 years of experience includes multiple civic, office, medical, retail, corporate, religious, institutional and residential projects.

He received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a registered Architect in the State of Texas.  In 1999, Joe was elected to the national College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects for his advancement of the profession in design. 

Joe served as president of the  Dallas Architectural Foundation.  He regularly participates as a guest juror  for  design award programs, student juries and authored several published articles.  He has been a guest speaker on design issues at numerous TSA State conventions and has served as a Visiting Instructor for the graduate design studio at UT Arlington School of Architecture.  He currently chairs the AIA Dallas Fellowship Committee.

Joe served on the Trinity River Corridor Advisory Panel for Dallas AIA as well as a panelist for the  Imagining Dallas symposium.  Joe's exemplary design, drawings, writing and process was featured in the traveling exhibition, "Five Dallas Modernists".  His firm was recipient of the 2006 FIRM AWARD, the highest award bestowed upon a firm by the Texas Society of Architects, as well as named 'Firm of the Year' by AIA Dallas in 2010.   

He has presented multiple programs to the Dallas Architecture Forum in recent years titled:  "Class Favorites", "Thinking Through Your Fingers", as a panelist for "The Critic's View", and most recently “The Art of Communication…architecturally speaking”.
